On the night of February 25, Ukrainian agricultural products from 8 gondola cars were scattered at the railway station in Kotomierz. 160 tons of grain were damaged.

This was reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The head of the ministry, Oleksandr Kubrakov, said that the Ukrainian side “fulfills its obligations in good faith and, in accordance with agreements with the Polish government, does not export certain types of agricultural products to Poland”.

“This has been confirmed at the official level — no grain, corn, or rapeseed remains there. This is the fourth case of vandalism at Polish railway stations. The fourth case of impunity and irresponsibility,” he added.

Representatives of the Polish police commented to TVP3 that they received a report of the incident on the morning of February 25. It was about scattered corn. Law enforcement is currently establishing the circumstances of the incident.

ZAXID.NET noted that the first to report the spilled grain was the Facebook page of the Ojdana farm, owned by farmer Hubert Ojdana. He ran in the last parliamentary elections from the pro-Russian Confederation party, known for its Ukrainophobic statements, the publication writes.

In particular, this page ironically claims that there was a “malfunction of the closure mechanism”.

Ukrzaliznytsia notes that about 180 tons were dumped. The company emphasizes that it will appeal to Polish law enforcement agencies.

“Ukrzaliznytsia records systematic damage to Ukrainian cargo in Poland daily. This is a crime against Ukraine that is out of control. And the longer the situation is ignored by Poland and no appropriate decisions are made, the more complicated and uncontrollable the situation will become,” the statement said.

Not the first time

As a reminder, on February 11, three trucks driven by Ukrainian citizens entered Poland after customs clearance in Dorohusk, Poland, on the border with Ukraine. Polish farmers holding protests at the border blocked their movement. At one point, they opened the sealed trailers, causing some grain to spill onto the road.

On February 20, Polish farmers blocked the railroad near the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint and again scattered Ukrainian grain from a freight car. Ukrzaliznytsia said that the protesters opened the hatch of two Ukrainian freight cars carrying grain for Germany. The company appealed to the Polish law enforcement agencies regarding this fact.

On February 23, unidentified persons opened three Ukrainian grain carriers with rapeseed at the Dorohusk railway station in Poland, causing the agricultural products to spill onto the ground. The Polish police are also investigating the scattering of Ukrainian soybeans, an incident that occurred on the morning of February 24 at the Dorohusk railway station.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that only 5% of Ukraine's agricultural exports pass through the Polish border, so in fact “the situation is not about grain, but rather about politics”.
