Ukrainian Journalist Oles Buzyna Shot Dead In Kyiv

Ukrainian journalist Oles Buzyna was shot dead today outside his apartment in Kyiv at around 14:00 (GMT +3). Hromadske was at the scene near the city center where an investigation is under way. Witnesses Hromadske spoke to say they heard between 3 or 4 shots. An adviser to the Ministry of Interior, Anton Gerashchenko, told reporters that he was shot at from a dark blue Ford Focus. The assistant further told reporters that the car's number plates were definitely not Ukrainian and could have been either Latvian or Belarusian.
Buzyna resigned from his position in March as editor in chief of Segodnya, a Ukrainian online newspaper, where he has worked for 3 months. He was widely known for his anti-Ukrainian views and was the co-founder of now banned pro-Russian political party, Russkiy Bloc.
