Ukrainian MP Confirmed To Have Coronavirus

One Ukrainian MP, Serhiy Shakhov, has been confirmed to have been infected by COVID-19, popularly known as the coronavirus. That’s according to a statement made by an MP from the ruling Servant of the People party, Oleksandr Kachura, during a parliamentary committee meeting on March 18.

The MP, part of the 'Trust' parliamentary group, himself confirmed this during a Facebook livestream. Shakhov had reportedly recently returned from Italy.

The Ministry of Health has stated that the MP had not attended the last two parliamentary sessions on March 16 and 17, and that the MP is receiving care and is under-going self-isolation.

This brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 14.
