Ukrainian Pavlo Gryb Sentenced to 6 Years on “Terrorism” Charge

A Russian court in the city of Rostov-on-Don has sentenced Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Gryb to six years in prison for “terrorism” promotion.

He denies the charges and announced a hunger strike to protest the sentencing.

In 2017, Gryb traveled to Belarus to meet someone he believes was a girl he met online. But his family thinks he walked into a honey trap set by Russia’s security service and maintains his innocence.

Russian authorities accuse Gryb of using the Internet to groom a teenage girl in Russia's southern city of Sochi and instruct her to carry out a terrorist attack.

Hryb openly criticized Russia’s interference in Ukraine – his father Ihor believes that his son’s imprisonment was retaliation.
