Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson has announced to his colleagues that the aid bill for Ukraine will be put to a vote on April 20, reported CNN, as well as American journalists, including Politico's Congressional reporter Olivia Beavers.

According to media reports, Johnson sent a message to members of the House of Representatives, noting that the texts of bills that would fund the national security interests of the United States and allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region would be published soon, on April 17.

The speaker promised to provide time for an "effective amendment process." He expects the vote on the final passage of these bills to take place on Saturday evening, April 20.

Background

The U.S. Senate, the upper chamber of Congress, has already approved a bill that provides for $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. To be signed by President Joe Biden, the document still has to pass the lower House of Representatives. The majority in the House is made up of Republicans, who are opposed to new aid to Ukraine.
