Zelenskyy’s Servant of the People Set to Get Single-Party Majority

The presidential party Servant of the People continues to lead by a large margin (42.34%) in the early elections to the Ukrainian Parliament.This is evidenced by the data from the Central Election Commission as of 9 a.m. Kyiv time on the results of processing 41.7% of the protocols of election commissions.

Servant of the People also leads in 106 constituencies out of 199.

This result would translate into about 130 seats in the new parliament through party lists alone, which would allow the party to form a majority without creating a coalition with other political forces. 226 mandates are required for a majority in the parliament of 450 seats.

This result is unprecedented for Ukrainian politics. The second-highest result - after party lists were introduced in 1998 - was achieved by ex-president Viktor Yanukovych’s Party of Regions in 2007 when it got 34.37%.

Four more parties are set to clear the 5% barrier necessary to get seats in the parliament:

Opposition Platform - For Life (12.78%),
European Solidarity (8.68%),
Batkivshchyna (“Fatherland”) (8.10%),
Golos (“Voice”) (6.38%).

As things the following parties did not get enough votes to enter the parliament: Radical Party - 3.87%, Strength and Honor - 3.74%, Opposition Bloc - 3.22%, Svoboda (“Freedom”) - 2.32%, Party of Shariy - 2.27%, Groysman’s Ukrainian Strategy party - 2.19%, Civil Position - 1.09%.

The rest of the parties scored less than 1% of the vote.

Golos Party leads in the Lviv region, Opposition platform - For Life - in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. In other regions and in Kyiv, Servant of the People leads (from 31.33% in Ternopil region to 57.13% in the Dnipropetrovsk region).

The snap parliamentary elections took place on July 21 in Ukraine. According to the data from all 199 constituencies, the national turnout was 49.84%. The highest turnout was in Ternopil (54.21%) and Chernihiv (54.80%) region, the lowest - in Chernivtsi (42.06%) and Zakarpattya (41.16%) region.

According to the national exit poll, five parties would enter the parliament: Servant of the People, Opposition Platform - For Life, European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna and Golos.

According to the Ukrainian electoral law, those parties who get over 2% of the vote will receive state funding.
