Russia planning to release fake lists of identified deceased Ukrainians during exchanges

Russia plans to intensify its disinformation campaign against Ukraine by releasing fake lists of identified deceased Ukrainians during ongoing body exchanges, according to Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service.

The climax of this campaign is planned for the final days of the exchanges. It is expected that the culmination will involve the deliberate dissemination of false lists of allegedly identified Ukrainian military and civilian casualties in the media.

According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, Russia aims to provoke panic and outrage within Ukrainian society and shift the blame for committed crimes onto the Ukrainian government through this tactic.

The intelligence service also emphasized that the decision to initiate such a campaign was personally approved by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The plan involves utilizing the entire pool of Russian propagandists and pro-Russian media outlets in Europe.

In the past week, several repatriation events have taken place as part of the recent agreements between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul. On June 14, 1,200 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were returned, and a day earlier, the bodies of 1,212 deceased service members were also repatriated.

Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, stated that Kyiv is facing information pressure and attempts to unilaterally dictate the terms of the exchange process.
