More about the attack
An explosion occurred in a residential building in Monaco, as a result of which a family of three Ukrainians was injured. Initially, it was reported that it was businessman Vadym Iermolaiev, his wife and son. However, it later turned out that it was not the businessman's wife who was present at the scene, but another woman, who underwent amputation of her legs.
State Minister of Monaco Christophe Mirmand stated that it was a planned attack and a terrorist act. The explosive device allegedly could contain bolts and metal parts inside. But the prosecutor general of Monaco later rejected this.
Vadym Iermolaiev is a businessman from Dnipro. In 2021, Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at $220 million. He is one of the largest developers in Dnipro. Iermolaiev also has interests in the financial market, alcohol production, and the agricultural sector.
hromadske journalists found that the group of companies Alef, controlled by the businessman, was also supposed to supply granite for the construction of the National Military Memorial Cemetery near Kyiv.
According to the SBU, since 2018 he has had Cypriot citizenship, re-registered his wine and spirits business in occupied Crimea under Russian laws and paid taxes to the Russian budget, for which sanctions were imposed against him in Ukraine.
Ukrainska Pravda, citing its sources, reported that French law enforcement believe that the explosion could have been organized by representatives of organized crime and that it is allegedly connected with call centers in Dnipro. French media claimed that Ukraine’s Security Service could have been involved in the incident.
