Woman posing as medic detained after unrest at Ukrainian National Guard facility, Budanov says

A woman who arrived in an ambulance during violent unrest outside a Ukrainian National Guard facility near Kyiv has been detained, according to presidential chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov.

Budanov said the woman had purchased an ambulance in advance, dressed in medical clothing and visited the building with a driver at least three days before the unrest.

Investigators also discovered correspondence between the woman and Telegram channels that later widely circulated reports about the incident, he said, according to Ukrainian broadcaster TSN.

Budanov said investigators had not yet established her motives, including whether she acted for personal, political or financial reasons.

The unrest broke out on November 2 in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, a suburb of Kyiv, after social media posts alleged that dozens of people were being held and abused inside a private building.

The building was subsequently identified as a temporary accommodation facility used by a National Guard unit affiliated with the Azov Corps. The unit denied allegations of torture.

Around 100 people gathered outside, and clashes broke out. Protesters threw stones and firecrackers and damaged vehicles.

Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation has opened an investigation into allegations of possible abuse of authority involving military personnel.

The circumstances surrounding the unrest and the woman's alleged role remain under investigation.
