They call the village of Chermalyk in Donetsk Oblast near the northern banks of the Sea of Azov and the area around it the grey zone, because its centre is being controlled by separatists. Formally, it is hard for the government to establish control over cities and villages in the grey zone.
According to Ukrainian Interior Minister's adviser Anton Gerashchenko, a hand grenade has been thrown in law enforcement forces; he also states that around 30 people have been detained.
Clashes between police forces and protesters started near the Parliament building after MPs supported decentralization amendments to the Ukrainian constitution.
