Russian aerial bomb kills 1, injures 21 in Dobropillya, Donetsk Oblast

On July 16, Russian forces dropped a 500-kg aerial bomb on the center of Dobropillya in Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast, killing one person and injuring several others, according to Ukraine’s ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
Lubinets stated that the Russians dropped the bomb when people were returning from work, striking near the Aurora one dollar store.
“There are fatalities and many injured. Rescuers, medics, and military doctors are working, but the local hospital cannot accommodate everyone,” he said.
7:17 p.m. update: Donetsk Oblast Military Administration head Vadym Filashkin reported that the attack killed two people and injured 14, with searches for survivors ongoing as some may remain trapped under rubble.
8:00 p.m. update: The regional administration clarified that one person was killed and 21 were injured.
“The Russians deliberately targeted a crowded area again, this time the city center’s shopping area, using a 500-kilogram aerial bomb,” Filashkin wrote.
Preliminary reports indicate 30 damaged commercial properties, six apartment buildings, and eight vehicles.
What is known about the situation in Dobropillya?
On July 16, Filashkin told the United News telethon that 22,600 people remain in Dobropillya, with 980 having left since the start of intensified attacks, including 38 strikes this month alone.
A temporary ban on civilian vehicles was introduced on the Kramatorsk-Dobropillya road due to increased Russian FPV drone attacks, with 21 strikes on the route reported in July.
