Germany to provide Ukraine with new air defense packages in September, Zelenskyy says

Germany will provide Ukraine with new air defense packages in September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following a conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Zelenskyy did not specify what systems or ammunition would be included in the packages.
The announcement comes as Ukraine seeks additional air defense systems and interceptor missiles to protect its cities and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.
Zelenskyy and Merz also discussed the attempted Russian drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which the Ukrainian president described as “another Russian escalation.”
Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to assist Germany with its expertise and experience where needed.
The two leaders also discussed a planned Ukrainian-German Drone Deal. According to Zelenskyy, the two countries' teams are finalizing the text of the agreement and discussed when it could be signed.
“This cooperation will definitely add capabilities for the defense of both Germany and Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
The leaders also agreed to meet in person.
