Escalation of situation at frontline and murder of Ukrainian servicemen in Germany: highlights for April 28

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the Russian army has focused its main efforts on several areas, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. Situation at the frontline escalated
Heavy fighting continued along the entire frontline this week. The situation was “dynamically changing” — in some areas, the enemy had tactical success, and in some areas, the tactical position of Ukrainian troops improved, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Thus, the most difficult situation is in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove sectors, where fierce fighting continues. The enemy has deployed up to four brigades in these areas. In the Kharkiv sector, Russian troops are increasing in number and regrouping.
At the same time, in the Kherson sector, Ukrainian troops managed to advance in the area of Veletenske and take control of Nestryha Island.
Two Ukrainians were killed in Germany
On the evening of April 27, two Ukrainians were found with stab wounds in a shopping center in Murnau am Staffelsee, Bavaria, Germany. According to law enforcement, a 36-year-old man died on the spot from his severe injuries, and the second, a 23-year-old man, died in the hospital.
The suspect was detained the same evening at his place of residence near the mall. He was a 57-year-old Russian citizen. An arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against him. The investigation is currently underway.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed that the victims, according to preliminary information, were military personnel undergoing rehabilitation.
Over 2500 gambling websites blocked
Currently, more than 2,500 websites that provide gambling services and hosted online casino resources without a license have been blocked in Ukraine.
As of April 2024, more than 450 criminal offenses related to the illegal organization of gambling are under investigation.
Zelenskyy: Security agreement with the US to be the strongest ever
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine and the United States are working on a bilateral security agreement. According to him, the goal is to make it the “strongest” of all that Ukraine has signed with other partners.
In particular, the parties are working to “fix specific levels of support for this year and the next 10 years”.
Incident in Zaporizhzhia Circus
In the Zaporizhzhia State Circus, a 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl fell from a three-meter height while performing a gymnastic routine.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, April 27, during a performance. According to the police, the performers of the gymnastic routine lost their grip on the rope and fell from a three-meter height.
