On May 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief in Kharkiv. During the meeting, they discussed the Russian offensive and how to counter it, and decided to strengthen the units operating in the Kharkiv region.

Strike on the airfield in Crimea
On the night of May 16, explosions occurred in the occupied city of Sevastopol, Crimea, near the Belbek military airfield.
According to the guerrillas, a missile and artillery depot was hit, followed by a detonation that lasted for hours. This warehouse allegedly housed most of the missiles for Su-27, Su-30 and MiG-31 aircraft used by the Russians to attack Ukraine.
Russians shoot civilians in Vovchansk
In the northern part of the city of Vovchansk in Kharkiv region, where active hostilities are taking place, Russian troops are taking civilians prisoner.
In addition, Ukrainian law enforcement officers have recorded the first executions of civilians by the Russian military. In particular, when one of the residents of Vovchansk tried to escape on foot, refusing to follow the commands of the Russians, they killed him.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian defenders are holding back the occupiers within the city limits of Vovchansk in the northern part of the city, where they are under fire control.
Criticism of the reservation of Favbet employees
MP from the Servant of the People party Oleksandr Fediyenko published an order of the Ministry of Economy on the reservation of employees of companies such as Glovo (Glovoapp Ukraine LLC), Favbet Tech (Favbet Tech LLC), Visa (Visa Ukraine LLC), etc.
As noted, they were granted a 6-month deferral from military service during mobilization. This caused a wave of criticism on social media, after which the Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko announced that she was canceling the order.
