President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in Kharkiv. According to him, the Defense Forces have managed to take combat control of the border where the occupiers have entered. Defense forces took combat control of the border area

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid a working visit to Kharkiv on May 24, where he held a meeting on the operational situation in the region and preparations for the autumn-winter period.

He said that Ukrainian troops had managed to take combat control of the border area of the Kharkiv region, which had been invaded by Russian occupiers.

On the evening of May 24, the General Staff said that in the Kharkiv sector, Russians tried 12 times to push Ukrainian units from their positions.

US announced new military assistance

The U.S. Department of Defense has officially announced a new $275 million military aid package for Ukraine, including HIMARS missiles, artillery shells, and Javelin anti-tank systems.

It is noted that this is the 58th aid package since August 2021, which will be provided to Ukraine by the administration of President Joe Biden from the US Department of Defense's stockpile.

Media: Putin is ready to stop the war

Reuters reported, citing four Russian sources, that self-proclaimed Russian President Vladimir Putin is allegedly ready to end the war in Ukraine through a ceasefire agreement that would recognize the current front lines.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained that reports of Russia's readiness to end the war at the current lines are related to Putin's fear of the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland.

First group of pilots completed training on F-16

The first group of Ukrainian pilots has completed training on F-16 fighter jets at a US military base in Arizona. The pilots are now heading to Europe for additional training.

All pilots are expected to complete their training in the US between May and August, although the exact schedule will depend on their progress through the program.

Man died in Zakarpattia TRC

A man died in one of the Zakarpattia territorial recruitment centers (TRC). The incident occurred the day before, on May 23. The recruiting center says that the man, who was fit for service according to the conclusions of the military medical commission, had a sharp deterioration in his health. An official inspection was ordered over the incident.

Men without documents will be detained

Men who do not have military registration and identity documents with them during the identity check may be detained, but not for more than three hours, said Ivan Vyhivskyi, head of the National Police of Ukraine.

He also added that the police have been authorized to participate in events to notify persons liable for military service and reservists together with representatives of the Military Commissariats and Joint Forces, but the police themselves will not serve summonses — this is not provided for by law.

UN Court ordered an end to the attack on Rafah

The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to stop its offensive on the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip and open a crossing point on the border with Egypt to provide assistance to local residents. The decision was made at the request of the Republic of South Africa.

Nasirov was released from the pretrial detention center on bail

The former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, was released on bail in the amount of UAH 55,000,592. He was released from custody, where he had been held since October 31, 2022.

Earlier, the investigation found our that during 2015-2016, Nasirov, as the head of the SFS, with the assistance of his advisor, received more than UAH 722 million in bribes for himself and third parties.

“Wave bridge” was opened in Kyiv

A new pedestrian bridge connecting the capital's recreational area, Obolonskyi Island, with the Obolon embankment and Natalka Park has been officially opened in Kyiv.

According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the bridge was built at the expense of foreign and Ukrainian sponsors. The structures for the bridge were manufactured at Azovstal. They were brought to Kyiv just a few weeks before the start of the full-scale war.
