Dozens of drones and 12 missiles destroyed over Ukraine. Ballistic missiles could not be intercepted
Overnight, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 12 out of 14 missiles, as well as 31 out of 31 Shahed suicide drones, with which the Russian military tried to attack Ukraine, announced the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykola Oleschuk.
The Russian troops launched the following during the night:
- 2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft (launched from Russia’s Tambov Oblast);
- 12 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area — Saratov Oblast of the Russian Federation);
- 31 Shahed drones (launches from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Yeisk (Russian Federation), as well as Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea)).
The anti-aircraft battle involved anti-aircraft missile units, fighter aircraft, EW equipment of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces. They managed to down:
- 12 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
- 31 attack drones.
Air targets were destroyed in the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia and Chernihiv oblasts.
Consequences of the attack
The town of Zhmerynka in Vinnytsia Oblast was attacked by drones, as a result of which three people were injured. Residential buildings and cars were damaged.
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a kamikaze drone targeted Nikopol: a school, a medical facility, four trade pavilions and two shops were damaged. Apartment buildings and power lines were also damaged.
