Sweden has announced its largest package of military aid to Ukraine, including the transfer of a radar reconnaissance aircraft. In Kharkiv, search operations at the site of the Russian attack on May 25 were completed: the police identified all 19 bodies of the dead. Sweden provided the ASC 890 radar aircraft
Sweden has announced its biggest aid package since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, worth 13.3 billion kroner (more than $1 billion). It included an air surveillance and control aircraft (ASC 890) to strengthen Ukrainian air defenses, as well as the entire Swedish stockpile of PBV 302 armored personnel carriers.
Search operations have been completed in Kharkiv
In Kharkiv, search operations were completed at the site of the Russian attack on the construction hypermarket Epicentre on May 25. The police identified all 19 bodies of those who died as a result of the bombardment. Another 54 people were injured.
On May 29, it was reported that a man who was in intensive care with burns died in the hospital.
The family of MP Halushko owns an elite car fleet
The father and mother of MP Mykola Halushko (Servant of the People) bought six cars and a motorcycle after the start of the full-scale invasion. Despite the fact that the lawmaker uses his parents' transport, only one of his father's cars is indicated in the official's declaration.
In addition, Halushko's mother built an estate worth 27 million hryvnias ($666,148).
The first mobilized prisoners captured a Russian soldier
The first convicts who joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now undergoing coordination, and some managed to distinguish themselves by capturing a Russian soldier, Deputy Justice Minister Olena Vysotska said in an interview with hromadske.
According to her, more than 600 prisoners have already joined the army, and this number is growing. As of May 29, there are more than 4,000 convicts who expressed a desire to get mobilized.
Russian attacks
Last night, the Russian military dropped two guided aerial bombs on the town of Selydove, Donetsk Oblast. During the search, rescuers retrieved the body of a 13-year-old boy from under the rubble.
The Russian forces also hit Sumy Oblast once again. This time the Krasnopilska community came under fire. Two dead and three injured people were reported.
Two more people died as a result of Russian shelling in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. One of them is the driver of an ambulance which was targeted by a Russian kamikaze drone.
Only four countries sent funds for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine
The Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Jana Černochová, stated that so far only Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and Portugal have sent money for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine as part of the Czech initiative. Prague called on other allies to make the promised financial contributions.
Bail was posted for Yermak’s former deputy
A bail of 10 million hryvnias ($246,721) was made for the former deputy head of the Office of the President Andriy Smirnov, who is suspected of illegal enrichment of 15.7 million hryvnias ($387,353).
Gag orders at Ukraine’s state news agency
On May 29, Ukrainska Pravda published an exposé about the distribution of "gag orders" in the Ukrinform news agency, i.e., instructions from the authorities regarding how political events in Ukraine should be covered in the news.
According to the outlet, the "gag orders" were personally sent by the dismissed head of Ukrinform Oleksiy Matsuka.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, said that he would contact the law enforcement officers regarding this report.
Prisoners were tortured in a colony in Poltava Oblast
The State Bureau of Investigation announced the disclosure of a large-scale system of torture of prisoners in Ukrainian colonies, in particular, in the Bozhkivska correctional colony in Poltava Oblast.
According to the investigation, the newly arrived prisoners were threatened with settlement among the "downcasts" and were beaten until their will was broken and they were forced to obey any instructions without questions. Information is checked even about the facts of death from beatings.
