'Economic reservation' bill, death of 9-year-old Ukrainian girl in Germany: June 12 highlights

A draft law defining the conditions of the so-called “economic reservation” was registered in the parliament. The body of a child was found in Germany, which, as it became known later, belongs to a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl who was searched for more than a week. We collected the main news for June 12.

The draft law on "economic reservation"

The Verkhovna Rada registered draft law No. 11331, which defines the conditions of the so-called “economic reservation”.

According to it, entrepreneurs and companies must pay an increased military levy of 20,000 hryvnias ($494) for each employee they want to reserve. Who exactly should be given "reservation" will be decided by the business itself, determining who is most critical to its operation.

Later, alternative draft laws will also be submitted to the parliament, which will provide for other reservation models.

Russian troops continue to conduct active offensive actions of varying intensity along the entire front, but the aggressor concentrates its main efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove axes.

Fierce fighting has been going on there for several months, and during this time, the Defense Forces have been holding back the enemy's movement. General Syrskyi emphasized that in these conditions it is important for Ukraine to maintain occupied lines and positions, prevent a defense breakthrough, and destroy the enemy's manpower and equipment as much as possible.

The number of participants in the Global Peace Summit has decreased

Radio Liberty, citing several anonymous EU diplomats, wrote that the number of countries and organizations that have confirmed their participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland has decreased from 93 to 78. It is not known who exactly changed their mind about attending the summit.

Journalists turned to the press service of the President's Office for a comment on the actual number of participants of the summit, but have not yet received a response.

The search for a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl in Germany

A child's body was found in a forest near the town of Döbeln in German Saxony. It was found approximately three kilometers from the family home of 9-year-old Ukrainian Valeria, who had been searched for more than a week after she did not return home from school.

Later, the German police confirmed that the body belonged to Valeria. The investigation did not find evidence that she was the victim of a sexual crime, but the police are investigating the murder.

Attack on Kryvyi Rih

Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. As public broadcaster Suspilne wrote, the Russians targeted the residential sector. As of 9 p.m., the number of people killed in the attack reached nine people. In addition, 29 people were injured, including five children.

The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office has started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Former judge Lvov lost the court case regarding reinstatement

The Sixth Appeals Administrative Court refused Bohdan Lvov, who the journalists found to be a citizen of the Russian Federation, to be reinstated as a judge of the Supreme Court and to pay him a salary for the period of forced absenteeism.

Lvov himself said after the meeting that he was "surprised" by the court's decision, and also said that the decision to dismiss him was made "one-handedly." He also noted that he is waiting for the full text of the court decision and will do "everything to clear his name."
