Peace Summit
At the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, 80 countries and 4 organizations supported the final communiqué. At the same time, there are those who did not support the declaration: Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Mexico, and South Africa.
The document, in particular, refers to the need to regain control over the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, food security, the release of prisoners of war and the return of deported children.
Switzerland intends to discuss the outcome of the summit with Russia, China and other countries that did not participate in the conference.
Politicians announce second peace summit
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after the first summit, “months, not years” will pass before the next conference is held. Some countries have already expressed their interest in hosting it.
According to Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, the second peace summit could be organized before the November US presidential election.
Zelenskyy believes that Russia's possible presence at the next Peace Summit will indicate Moscow's readiness to end the war.
Trump threatens to cut off financial aid to Ukraine
Former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he will cut off financial aid to Ukraine.
“I think Zelenskyy is probably the best salesman of any politician who has ever lived. Every time he comes to our country, he leaves with 60 billion dollars […] He just left 4 days ago with 60 billion, came home and announced that he needs another 60 billion. This will never end. I will solve it before I take the White House,” he said.
At the same time, Trump said he sympathized with the Ukrainian president.
Azov reports on an offensive in the Serebrianka Forest
The 12th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov" reported that on April 21, the military conducted an offensive in the Serebrianka Forest in the Luhansk region. The soldiers managed to advance 1 km deep and 2 km along the front line.
The brigade clarified that not only Azov, but also the 1st Operational Brigade of the National Guard “Burevii” took part in the offensive against Russian positions.
Norway and Canada allocate money for Ukraine
Norway will allocate 1.1 billion kroner (about 96 million euros) to Ukraine to rebuild its energy infrastructure.
At the same time, Canada has announced that it will allocate $15 million for the return and reintegration of Ukrainian children illegally taken to Russia.
Equality March
After a two-year hiatus, the Equality March took place in Kyiv, with more than half a thousand people marching through the streets with flags and posters. The march was joined by activists, the military, MPs, and ambassadors from partner countries.
Later, representatives of right-wing organizations began their action. Their posters read: “Gay pride parades on blood”, “I didn't see this leftist bullsh*t on the war” with a picture of Lenin, etc. A number of participants in this action had their faces covered.
