New attack on grid, vandalized graves of Da Vinci, Dzhus, Petrychenko: June 20 highlights

Russia inflicted a new massive blow on Ukraine and damaged the energy infrastructure in several regions. Romania agreed to transfer a Patriot system to Ukraine. In Kyiv, the graves of soldiers Dmytro (Da Vinci) Kotsiubaylo, Andriy (Dzhus) Pilshchikov, and Pavlo Petrychenko were vandalized. We collected the main news for June 20.

Attack on energy facilities

Overnight, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 36 air targets. 32 of them were shot down, but the rest damaged the energy infrastructure in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kyiv oblasts.

In particular, the Russians targeted one of the thermal power plants of DTEK energy company. As a result of the massive attack, seven power engineers were injured.

Vandalized graves of soldiers Da Vinci, Dzhus and Petrychenko

Ukrainian army officer Alina Mykhaylova reported that at night, unknown persons damaged the portraits of fallen soldiers Dmytro (Da Vinci) Kotsiubaylo, Andriy (Dzhus) Pilshchikov, and Pavlo Petrychenko, painted on flags, and also broke the lamps at the "Ilovaysk. DAP. Debaltseve" memorial.

In Kyiv, a 60-year-old woman who committed the act of vandalism on graves has already been detained. An indictment is being prepared for her.

Romania will transfer a Patriot system to Ukraine

Romania’s Supreme Council on National Defense, during a meeting chaired by President Klaus Iohannis, approved the transfer of a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

The country emphasized that the Patriot was given in view of the "significant deterioration of the security situation in Ukraine" as a result of constant Russian massive attacks.

SBU hit two Russian oil depots

Overnight, drones of the Security Service of Ukraine hit the warehouse of fuel and lubricants of Tambovnefteprodukt JSC and the Enemskaya oil depot of LUKOIL-Yugnefteprodukt LLC.

At these facilities, raw materials and finished products were processed and stored, which later went to the needs of the Russian army. After a series of drone strikes, fires started at both facilities.

USA will give priority to Ukraine in the transfer of missiles for air defense

White House National Security Adviser John Kirby confirmed that the US President's administration decided to primarily send air defense missiles to Ukraine, and not to other allies. In particular, this concerns missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS systems.

The EU agreed on a "powerful" package of sanctions against Russia

The ambassadors of the EU countries agreed on the 14th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the Russian war against Ukraine. It was called "powerful" and "substantial".

According to Reuters, the new measures include a ban on the transshipment of Russian liquefied natural gas and a plan to hold EU operators responsible for sanctions violations by subsidiaries and partners in third countries.

High Council of Justice dismissed judge Tandyr

The High Council of Justice rejected the appeal of judge Oleksiy Tandyr, who last year ran over a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine at a roadblock, against the decision of the Second Disciplinary Chamber to dismiss him.

During the entire time after the accident, he received a judge's salary. Now these payments will stop.

Attack on volunteer Dmytro Pavlov

In the center of Dnipro, a group of men in uniform attacked Dmytro "Syn" Pavlov, a volunteer and fighter of the Kraken special unit, while he was walking with a child. Social media reports indicate that the security of MP Mykola Tyshchenko, with whom Pavlov had an argument, is involved in this.

The National Police told hromadske that two criminal proceedings have been opened over this: under Art. 125 and Art. 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has withdrawn his candidacy for the post of NATO Secretary General, thus clearing the way for the only candidate – Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
