Zelenskyy replaces Commander of AFU Joint Forces

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Sodol. He will be replaced by Brigadier-General Andrii Hnatov, former commander of the 36th Marine Brigade and former deputy commander of the Operational Command South.
New sanctions against Russia
The Council of the European Union has approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia in response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The new package of sanctions affects the energy, finance and trade sectors. The new restrictions should make it harder for Russia to circumvent the sanctions previously imposed by the EU.
In addition, 116 individuals and legal entities responsible for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine have been added to the sanctions list.
Russia attacks Donetsk Region
On 24 June, Russian troops attacked several towns in the Donetsk region. In Toretsk, the attack killed one person and wounded another.
The Russian forces also launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, killing 5 people and injuring 41. According to Vadym Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, this is the largest attack on the city in recent times.
Military aid to Ukraine
Ukraine will receive €1.4 billion in military aid from the EU in July. By the end of the year, Kyiv will receive another billion euros, seized from frozen Russian assets, said Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU. The funds will be used to supply air defense equipment, ammunition and support the Ukrainian defense industry.
US official Carly Babb told Voice of America that the US may announce an additional $150 million in military aid to Ukraine on 25 June.
