Statement from Belarus about 'threat' on border with Ukraine and Russia's deadly attack on Vilniansk: June 29 highlights

Belarus claims that Ukraine is drawing troops to the border. Russian troops launched two missile attacks on the town of Vilniansk near Zaporizhzhia: 7 people, including children, were killed. The US may transfer HAWK air defense missiles to Ukraine. We collected the main news for June 29.

Belarus announced "tension" on the border with Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus claims that in recent weeks, Ukraine has allegedly been drawing troops to the border, as well as mining territories and building engineering barriers. The situation is allegedly "difficult", but no "provocations" have been recorded yet.

Earlier, the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko explained that the Defense Forces are protecting the sovereign territory from the aggressor, and "there are no provocations in this."

Strike on Vilniansk

At 5:40 p.m., the occupation forces of the Russian Federation launched two missile attacks on the town of Vilniansk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The type of missiles with which the Russians fired at the city is currently being determined.

As of 9:30 p.m., there are seven dead, including two children, and 23 injured.

More attacks

In the morning, the Russian forces shelled Kherson Oblast. In the village of Naddniprianske, four residents were injured as a result of the attack.

In addition, the aggressor attacked a police car with a drone in the Shostka district of Sumy Oblast.

In Kharkiv Oblast, the Russian forces hit the Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi cemetery with cluster munitions and four aerial bombs on Derhachi. People have been wounded.

Also, Russian troops shelled the Lyman and Toretsk communities of Donetsk Oblast. As a result of the blows of the Russians, three people were killed, and four more were injured. Then, the aggressor again shelled a number of settlements in Donetsk Oblast.

Reuters: The US will deliver HAWK air defense missiles to Ukraine

Joe Biden's administration will provide Ukraine with a new $150 million military aid package, which will include, in particular, HAWK interceptor missiles for air defense systems and 155-millimeter artillery ammunition, Reuters writes with reference to two American officials.

The NYT editorial board called on Biden to withdraw his candidacy

The editorial board of one of the oldest American newspapers, the New York Times (trusted mainly by Democrats), called on Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, and the Democratic Party to find a replacement.

The newspaper notes that during the debate with Donald Trump, the president needed to convince the American public that he meets the "formidable requirements of the position", but the journalists believe that "Biden is no longer the same as he was four years ago".

A collapse in a mine in Lviv Oblast

At the Vidrodzhennia mine in the village of Mezhiryche in Lviv Oblast, the soil collapsed at a depth of 500 meters. Two miners, 36 and 37 men, remained under the rubble. The two men are survived by their wives and children.
