Combat operations on the border of Kursk Oblast
In the morning, Russia reported an alleged attempt by the Ukrainian army to break through the border in Kursk Oblast - the fighting is still ongoing, and the local authorities call the situation "tense". Against this background, locals are being evacuated there, and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will even open a case.
The mass media write about captured Russians, and Sumy regional authorities announced the downing of a Russian helicopter. Russia claims losses in the Ukrainian army as well. Ukraine has not yet officially commented on the hostilities.
Release of judges Tandyr and Knyazev
The Supreme Council of Justice decided to dismiss Vsevolod Knyazev from the post of judge of the Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court. He is suspected of receiving a particularly large bribe.
Oleksiy Tandyr, the judge of the Makariv District Court, who committed a fatal accident at a checkpoint in Kyiv last year, was also dismissed. Both were fired for "substantial disciplinary misconduct."
In July, the Defense Forces used more drones than the Russian Federation
In July, the Ukrainian military used more drones than the Russian forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said: "This should be a stable trend at the front – for all types of drones that our units have." At the same time, Ukrainian capabilities to produce drones are growing.
€4.2 billion for Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility program
On August 6, the Council of the European Union approved the allocation of 4.2 billion euros within the Ukraine Facility macro-financial aid program. They noted that this decision supports the macro-financial stability of Ukraine and the functioning of its state administration.
