Russian troops hit a shopping center in Kostiantynivka with a missile: at least 14 people were killed. The Ukrainian military destroyed warehouses at the airfield in Lipetsk, Russia, where more than 700 guided aerial bombs were stored. The USA and Lithuania announced their military aid packages to Ukraine. We collected the main news for August 9.

Russia hits a supermarket in Kostyantynivka

At around 11 a.m. on August 9, the Russian military struck a shopping center in the town of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast. Russia likely used the Kh-38 missile. Many people were nearby at the time of the attack.

As of 11 p.m., 14 dead and 43 wounded have been confirmed. For the identification of the dead, forensic scientists take biological samples and take DNA tests from their relatives.

Attack on an airfield in Lipetsk

Overnight, the Ukrainian military hit warehouses with guided aerial bombs near the Lipetsk airfield in Russia, the General Staff of the Armed Forces confirmed.

According to an informed hromadske source, more than 700 guided aerial bombs were stored in warehouses.

Skhemy journalists published satellite images showing that a number of premises were completely destroyed.

Local authorities even declared a state of emergency in Lipetsk District and evacuated local residents.

Aid from the USA and Lithuania

The US Department of Defense announced additional military aid to Ukraine worth about $125 million. The package includes air defense equipment, multifunctional systems for detecting and countering enemy artillery, as well as anti-tank weapons.

Lithuania also announced a "solid" package of military aid to Ukraine. It will include M113 armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft missile systems, and all-terrain vehicles.

Anastasiya Rybachok and Liudmyla Luzan won silver in rowing in a canoe duo at a distance of 500 meters.

Taisia Onofriychuk finished ninth in the rhythmic gymnastics final.
