Ukrainian drones hit missile arsenal in Volgograd region
On 29 September, the Ukrainian military hit a missile storage arsenal in the village of Kotluban in the Volgograd region of Russia with drones.
This was reported to hromadske by a source in the security forces.
The operation was organised by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces, the Security Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of the attack, ammunition and missile storage sites were hit, which will result in a shortage of ammunition for the units of the Russian occupation army.
According to the source, the arsenal was attacked by about 120 drones. The distance to the target is over 600 kilometres.
Later, the General Staff officially confirmed that the Kotluban arsenal had been hit. A fire and detonation of ammunition is ongoing on its territory. According to the military, an echelon of Iranian missiles arrived at the arsenal on the eve of the strike.
On 29 September, Russia announced a massive drone attack. The governor of Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, said that several drones had allegedly been shot down over the region, and that the falling debris caused a fire on dry grass, which he said had already been extinguished.
The drones also attacked Voronezh, Belgorod, Rostov, Kursk regions and Krasnodar Territory. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, a total of 125 drones were allegedly shot down over Russia. The Ukrainian side did not comment on the incident.
