The Russian army continues its offensive on Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast — the enemy is already 7 km from the city. Currently, about 13,000 civilians remain there, Serhiy Dobryak, the head of the Pokrovsk City Military Administration, said on national television.

The Russian military shells the city every day. On October 3, the aggressor hit the city twice with six guided aerial bombs, as a result of which four people were injured. Russian forces have destroyed approximately 80% of the city's critical infrastructure.

The city governor also said that 13,000 people remain in the city, including 94 children. At the same time, the official declares that the children will be evacuated in the near future.

The situation near Pokrovsk

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on October 3 that 30 enemy attacks were repulsed near Pokrovsk.

The enemy tried to advance in the vicinity of Sukha Balka, Hirnyk, Promin, Novotoretske and Krutyi Yar. The main efforts of the enemy were concentrated in the areas of Mykolaivka and Selydove.

On September 5, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Defense Forces were able to stop the advance of the Russian army on the Pokrovsk axis. Forbes also confirmed this, adding that the Defense Forces of Ukraine manage to conduct local counterattacks on that front.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the other hand, said that he did not want to make premature statements about the stabilization of the front near Pokrovsk.

Also, at the beginning of September, local authorities canceled evacuation trains to Pokrovsk. The nearest starting point for evacuation by rail is the city of Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
