Law on prohibition of mobilization under the age of 25, detention of serviceman Hnezdilov: October 9 highlights

The Verkhovna Rada passed a law prohibiting the mobilization of Ukrainians under the age of 25. The law enforcement officers detained the soldier Serhiy Hnezdilov, who publicly went AWOL. Defense Forces attacked warehouses with weapons in two regions of Russia. We collected the main news for October 9.

Ukrainian parliament passed a law prohibiting mobilization under the age of 25

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law No. 11379d, which exempts men under the age of 25 from mobilization.

311 lawmakers voted for this decision. Previously, MP Iryna Herashchenko explained that there is now a "legislative conflict" regarding conscripts aged 18-25, who were recognized as having limited fitness.

Detention of Serhiy Hnezdilov

Serhiy Hnezdilov, a serviceman of the 56th Mariupol Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, who publicly voluntarily left his unit, reported his arrest. Subsequently, the State Bureau of Investigation confirmed this.

His actions were classified as desertion, the indictment has not yet been served.

Strikes on warehouses in Russia

The Ukrainian military hit the 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Bryansk Oblast. Ammunition for missile and artillery weapons, including from North Korea, as well as guided aerial bombs were stored there.

Subsequently, the Defense Forces successfully struck a storage base for Shahed drones in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. There were about 400 attack drones at the facility.

Ukrainska Pravda reported pressure from the President's Office

The editors of the news agency Ukrainska Pravda stated that the Office of the President exerts long-term systematic pressure on it, as well as on individual journalists. UP stated that the attempt to influence the media will be covered publicly and will have consequences at the international level.

Budanov took part in the operation to liberate the factory in Vovchansk

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, was with intelligence officers at the key stage of the operation to liberate the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant in Kharkiv Oblast.

"Specifically, in this operation, he was with us at a key moment, at a key stage. He was present for several days and directly managed the mission. Of course, it supports the fighters, gives them motivation," said the commander of the Stuhna unit.
