Death toll after Russian attack on Odesa Oblast rises to 7

One of the wounded as a result of the Russian attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa on the evening of October 9 died in the hospital. The number of fatalities has increased to seven, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported.

The deceased was a 46-year-old port worker. According to Kiper, the doctors tried to the last to save the wounded man.

On the evening of October 9, Russian troops hit the port infrastructure of Odesa Oblast with ballistic missiles. During the attack, a civilian ship under the flag of Panama, the container ship Shui Spirit, was damaged.

Infrastructure Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said that this is the third foreign ship attacked by Russia in the last four days.

Previous attacks

On October 7, the Russian Federation also targeted the port infrastructure of Odesa with ballistic missiles. A civilian vessel flying the flag of Palau came under attack. A 60-year-old Ukrainian, an employee of a private cargo handling company, died. Five more foreign citizens, crew members, were injured.

Overnight on October 5, a civilian ship under the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis, which was standing in the port of Odesa with corn grain loaded for export, was damaged.
