Russians probably executed wounded soldier in New York in Donetsk Oblast – prosecutor's office

Russian soldiers near Bakhmut shot a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who might have been wounded. The police started an investigation, reported the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
According to operational data, the Ukrainian soldier was performing a combat mission in the Bakhmut district and was probably injured. After some time, the building in which he was staying was captured by the enemy, and he was taken prisoner.
The unarmed soldier who was lying on the ground was shot by the Russians. Tentatively, this happened on September 6 around 10:00 a.m. near the Phenol factory in the village of New York.
The prosecutor's office reiterated that killing prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a grave international crime.
The law enforcement officers have started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings over violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
