The United States announces a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine. The incumbent President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, won the first round of this year's elections. The occupiers shot two captured Ukrainian soldiers near Selidove. We have collected the main news for October 21.
US allocates new aid package, another one is being prepared
During his visit to Kyiv, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that Washington has allocated another $400 million security assistance package for Ukraine. In particular, it will include additional ammunition and armored vehicles.
Washington is also preparing another $800 million in funding for the production of Ukrainian drones.
Sandu wins the first round of elections in Moldova
In the first round of the presidential election in Moldova on October 20, none of the 11 candidates received more than 50% of the vote.
Incumbent President Maia Sandu received the most votes — 42.45%. In the second round, on November 3, her rival will be Alexandru Stoianoglo.
Occupiers executed two captured soldiers
The Russian military executed two captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the town of Selydove in the Donetsk region. First, the occupiers laid the unarmed prisoners of war face down, pressing them to the ground, and after a while shot them at point blank range with automatic weapons.
IAEA finances research on Russians in occupied Crimea
Radio Liberty has found that the IAEA has supported a number of Russian research projects in occupied Crimea, although it claims to consider Crimea a part of Ukraine.
Health Ministry cancels disability of 74 persons liable for military service, established by Khmelnytsky MSEC
The Ministry of Health has conducted inspections and canceled the conclusions on disability of 74 persons liable for military service at the Khmelnytskyi Center for Medical and Social Examination.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there are hundreds of episodes of violations at various levels due to the dishonest work of the Medical and Social Expert Commission for Ukraine.
Russians catch DPRK soldiers who fled their positions in the Kursk region
Russians have detained 18 North Korean soldiers who have arbitrarily left their positions in the Kursk region. They may be involved in assault operations against the Ukrainian military.
Meanwhile, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Georgy Zinoviev and called for the immediate withdrawal of North Korean soldiers from Russia.
Basic training in the Armed Forces may be extended even more
The period of basic military training (BMT) for Ukrainian soldiers may be extended to more than 1.5 months. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces expects to make a decision on the BMT as early as December.
Personnel changes in state-owned companies
The Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom has elected a new Director General of the concern. It was Oleh Huliak, the former commander of the Armed Forces Logistics Forces, who was appointed interim head of the concern in early September.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Oleksandr Pertsovskyi as chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
