Death of family in Kryvyi Rih and proposal to dissolve military commissariats: November 12 highlights

In Kryvyi Rih, as a result of a Russian attack, four members of one family were killed: a young woman and her three children. The Verkhovna Rada proposed disbanding the military commissariats. The Cabinet of Ministers allowed the transfer of soldiers between military units through the Army+ application. We collected the main news for November 12.

Attack on Kryvyi Rih: three children were killed

In Kryvyi Rih, under the rubble of a building hit by a Russian missile, the bodies of three children were found: two-month-old Ulyana, Demyd, who was 2 years and 9 months old, and ten-year-old Kyrylo. Before that, the body of their mother was discovered.

14 people were wounded, including children. Three of them are in hospital.

Strike on the Kurakhove Reservoir

In Donetsk Oblast, 15 million cubic meters of water spilled from the dam of the Kurakhove Reservoir due to damage caused by Russian shelling. So far, residential buildings have not been flooded.

Roman Padun, the head of the Kurakhove military administration, suggested that one of the locks of the dam may be damaged, as Russian troops have been trying to hit it with guided aerial bombs every week for the past months.

The number of murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war has increased

This year, the number of criminal proceedings opened into the murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war committed by the Russians has more than quadrupled compared with 2022 and 2023.

Since the beginning of 2024, a pre-trial investigation has been started in 35 criminal proceedings about the murder of captured Ukrainians.

The parliament proposed disbanding the military commissariats

The temporary investigative commission for the protection of the rights of soldiers submitted a report in which it suggested disbanding the territorial recruitment centers and instead creating recruiting centers where, in particular, civilians will work.

Instead, according to MP Yuliya Yatsyk, more than 10 full-fledged brigades can be created from the military commissariat workers.

The government agreed on a mechanism for the transfer of fighters between units

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution introducing a "real and transparent" mechanism for the transfer of soldiers between units at the initiative of the fighters, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Transfers will work through the Army+ application. According to Zelenskyy, in case of refusal, the military should be given clear reasons, and in case of approval, a clear decision.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants to regain control over the territory of Kursk Oblast, which was seized by Ukrainian troops, before the inauguration of the newly elected US president Donald Trump, The Telegraph writes.

FT: Kuleba was offered the position of ambassador to the United States

Almost 3,000 Ukrainians joined the reserve of civil servants

More than 2,900 Ukrainians expressed a desire to join the personnel reserve of civil servants in the de-occupied territories. 75.5% of them want to work in Crimea.

32% of Ukrainians are ready to cede territories
