Ukraine held events to commemorate the victims of the Holodomor. France confirms that it has authorized Ukraine to strike Russia with its missiles. The media named a likely candidate for the post of US special envoy for the war in Ukraine. We have collected the main news for November 23.

Ukraine and the world commemorate the Holodomor victims

Every third Saturday of November, Ukraine and the world commemorate the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. This year, this date fell on November 23.

In the morning, a joint prayer was held at the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra with the participation of leaders of various churches and religious denominations. It was attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska. After the prayer, the participants marched to the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide, where they laid ears of wheat at the Bitter Memory of Childhood monument.

On that day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Holodomor Museum, published thousands of criminal cases related to the actions of the Soviets during the 1932-1933 Holodomor.

The Center for National Resistance said that the occupiers in the temporarily occupied territories have ordered to “turn in” local residents who light candles of remembrance or show other signs of grief on Holodomor Remembrance Day.

And in Mandra, Greece, communists attacked a Ukrainian rally dedicated to commemorating the Holodomor victims.

France confirms permission for long-range strikes

Official Paris has granted Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory with French long-range missiles. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

According to him, the Ukrainian army can do this only “in self-defense”. However, the minister did not confirm whether French weapons had already been used.

Zelenskyy: Generals should be in the trenches

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about changes in approaches to management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine from his internal “resilience plan”. In particular, they include reducing bureaucracy in the army.

“A general who has not been in a trench is not a general for me, despite his experience. With all due respect, the most difficult situation today is on the front line, in the trenches. Generals should be in the trenches,” he said.

Teachers and priests on “execution lists” of Russia

Before the full-scale invasion began, the Russian leadership created a list of people they planned to kill in the event of a takeover of Ukraine. The list included teachers, ATO veterans, journalists, priests, scientists and writers, said Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The DIU also reported that Russia has a system of torture of prisoners of war, according to which it trains relevant “specialists”.

Candidate for the post of US special envoy for the war in Ukraine named

US President-elect Donald Trump plans to appoint Richard Grenell, his former intelligence chief, as special envoy for the Russian-Ukrainian war, Reuters reports, citing its own sources.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has every chance to end the war next year. He wants to hear Donald Trump's proposals on this. According to the Ukrainian president, this will be possible in January.

Deferrals through Diia will be valid only until February 28

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made the previously announced changes to the conditions for reservations for persons liable for military service for the period of mobilization and wartime.

In particular, it has determined that deferrals issued by the Ministry of Economy and through Diia will be valid only until February 28.

Polish farmers go on strike at the border

On the morning of November 23, Polish farmers began a protest in front of the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint on the Ukrainian border.

The protest was attended by 30 people. They continuously walked along the pedestrian crossing with flags in their hands.

Production of Palianytsia to be financed by Lithuania

Ukraine and Lithuania have signed a memorandum under which Vilnius will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones, including the Palianytsia.

As part of this agreement, the first tranche of EUR 10 million has already been agreed.
