Arrival of first Mirage fighters, six months of Kursk operation, strike on Russian airbase: February 6 highlights

The first Mirage fighter jets from France have arrived in Ukraine. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a strike on a Russian airbase in Primorsko-Akhtarsk. It has been six months since the start of the Kursk operation. Here are the key events for February 6.

First Mirage fighters are already in Ukraine

The first Mirage 2000 fighter jets provided by France have arrived in Ukraine. Ukrainian pilots have completed several months of training on these aircraft and will now participate in defending Ukrainian airspace.

Additionally, a batch of F-16 fighter jets has been delivered by the Netherlands.

Strike on the airfield in Primorsko-Akhtarsk

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a strike on a Russian airbase in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai. According to military sources, this airbase is used for storing, preparing, and launching Shahed strike drones.

The airbase was hit late in the evening of February 5. Locals reported hearing at least three drones flying overhead.

Six-month anniversary of Kursk operation

Over the past six months of the Kursk operation, Russian forces have suffered 39,900 casualties, including 16,000 killed. Ukrainian forces have also captured 909 Russian soldiers.

The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revealed that they had advanced into Russian territory before the start of the Kursk operation, which later allowed them to move troops along prepared routes.

Trump's plan for war in Ukraine will not be presented next week

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg denied media reports that he would present a plan to resolve the war in Ukraine during the Munich Security Conference on February 14-16.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that U.S. President Donald Trump does not yet have an official plan to end the war.

  • A new meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group ("Ramstein format") will take place on February 12. For the first time, it will not be chaired by the United States.
