Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has decided to reinforce Ukrainian units in the Kursk sector, where the Russians are advancing. He assures that there is no threat of encirclement for Ukrainian troops, according to his statement.

Ukrainian units will be reinforced with the necessary forces and means, including electronic warfare and drones.

At the same time, according to Syrskyi, the settlements in Sumy Oblast on the border with Russia that allegedly came under Russian control “actually no longer exist.” Sabotage and reconnaissance groups and small infantry groups of Russians who break into the territory of Ukraine are being destroyed.

"Currently, there is no threat of encirclement of our units in Kursk Oblast. The units are taking timely measures to maneuver to advantageous defense lines," Syrskyi added.

The day before, the military-analytical project DeepState and a source of hromadske reported that the Russians in Kursk had captured Martynivka, Mala Loknia and the surrounding areas.

What is happening in Kursk Oblast?

On the morning of March 8, Russian attack aircraft had infiltrated the city of Sudzha in Kursk Oblast along the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhhorod gas pipeline. This was reported to hromadske by an informed source in military circles, and also by Ukrainska Pravda and journalist Yuriy Butusov.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that in Kursk Oblast there was no massive breakthrough by the Russians of the Ukrainian border in Sumy Oblast, and in Sudzha, Russian special forces, who had previously moved along the gas pipeline, are suffering "very large" losses.

The General Staff added that heavy fighting continues in Kursk Oblast, the situation remains difficult, but it is under the control of the Ukrainian command.
