Russia endorses proposals for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, Vladimir Putin declared on Thursday, though he flagged unresolved issues requiring further talks, as reported by propaganda outlets TASS and RIA Novosti.

“The idea of a ceasefire is correct,” Putin said, but cautioned that Ukraine might exploit the pause to rearm or mobilize.

He also pointed to uncertainties around monitoring and verifying compliance, alongside specific concerns about Kursk Oblast, where Ukrainian forces hold ground.

Putin suggested these “nuances” need hashing out, including with the U.S., hinting at a potential call to President Donald Trump.

Possible ceasefire

The statement follows U.S.-Ukraine talks in Jeddah on March 11, where the U.S. pledged to resume military aid and intelligence sharing, and Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposal contingent on Russia’s acceptance.

The U.S. is now tasked with relaying this to Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy affirmed Kyiv’s readiness for a truce, stressing it hinges on Russia’s consent.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, added that detailed discussions with Russia could start next week.
