Four Russian helicopters destroyed by missile strike in Belgorod Oblast
Ukrainian military launched a missile strike on a Russian Mi-8 and Ka-52 helicopter base in Belgorod Oblast, as reported by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack was carried out in cooperation with the military of the Main Intelligence Directorate, missile forces and artillery. The strike used ammunition for the HIMARS artillery system with 180,000 tungsten fragments in each of them.
As a result, two Ka-52 attack helicopters, which are used for reconnaissance and ground attacks, were destroyed, as well as two Mi-8 transport helicopters, which transport Russian personnel and cargo, and also support ground operations.
They were all placed on a platform in the rear, which was created as a camouflaged position for rapid movement of the flanks or for surprise attacks on Ukrainian forces.
As of March 23, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of a total of 331 Russian helicopters since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The General Staff later confirmed the destruction of four Russian helicopters. In the daily report of Russian losses, the number of helicopters destroyed now stands at 335.s
