Massive drone attack on Kharkiv Oblast: children among casualties

On the evening of March 26, Russian troops massively attacked Kharkiv and the village of Zolochiv, near the regional center, with drones. Children were among the victims, according to the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv regional governor, Oleg Synegubov, and the regional police.

More than 10 explosions have been heard in Kharkiv. As of 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, eight people were known to have been injured. Among them was a 14-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. Residential buildings, cars, and outbuildings were damaged.

As of 8:46 a.m., according to Synegubov, the number of wounded has reached 11 people. Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service claims that there are already 12 casualties.

According to the State Emergency Service, there were 4 fire outbreaks. The largest fire, covering an area of 2,500 m², broke out in a production building.

In Zolochiv, seven people were injured in the attack. Three of them suffered blast injuries and four more suffered acute stress reactions, including a 4-year-old girl. A 26-year-old man and his 18-year-old sister were hospitalized in serious condition.

At least 12 private homes and outbuildings were partially damaged.

Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 438 (war crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

More about the situation in the region

On March 25, the Russians used MLRS and UAVs against the civilian population of Kharkiv Oblast. The Kupyansk district was under fire. Private houses and a car were damaged, the police said.

According to the regional authorities, 31 people were evacuated from the Kupyansk and Borova sectors during the day.

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russians tried four times to break through the defensive lines of the Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Vovchansk, Tykhe, and towards Kamyanka.

In the Kupyansk sector, five attacks took place on March 25. The Ukrainian military stopped the Russian assault operations near Zahryzove and Petropavlivka.
