In attack on Engels, Russia loses almost 100 cruise missiles, with which it planned to launch three strikes on Ukraine.

As a result of the attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the Russian Engels-2 airbase overnight into March 20, 96 air-launched cruise missiles were destroyed, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russians planned to use this number of missiles during three missile strikes on Ukraine in March and April.

In addition, the strikes on the airfield also hit aviation fuel storage facilities - a significant part of its reserves were also destroyed, and this will affect the Russians' ability to support combat operations.

British intelligence claimed that the attack on Engels-2 was the most successful strike by Ukrainian forces against Russia since the beginning of 2025.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the drone attack on the Russian military airfield Engels-2 was carried out by drones of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces.

Our source in the SBU said that the airfield in Engels is a key base for Russian strategic aviation, where Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers are deployed, as well as warehouses with FAB and KAB aerial bombs and cruise missiles. It is from this airfield that warplanes that launch missile strikes on Ukraine take off.

After the Ukrainian military operation, a fire broke out near the airfield, explosions and secondary detonation of ammunition were heard.
