Russian military base in occupied Crimea hit by drone attack, casualties reported
Ukrainian drones struck a Russian military base in occupied Crimea’s Perevalne village on Friday, causing explosions, fires, and reported casualties, Russia’s Defense Ministry, the ATESH partisan movement, and Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated on Telegram that its air defenses downed 65 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 43 over the Black Sea, 21 over Crimea, and one over Belgorod Oblast.
The ATESH movement and Crimean Wund reported explosions near the 126th Separate Guards Coastal Defense Brigade and 8th Separate Artillery Regiment’s base in Perevalne, with ATESH noting, “There is information about dead military personnel on duty at the warehouse.”
A fire at an ammunition depot prompted Russian authorities to close the Simferopol-Alushta road.
Around 5 a.m., at least five explosions were heard over Yalta, with residents reporting bright flashes and loud booms triggering car alarms, per Russian Telegram channel SHOT.
Explosions also occurred in Gurzuf, Alupka, and Alushta, per the same source.
Sevastopol’s Russian-appointed governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, said loud noises in the city were from air defenses downing six drones “at a great distance from the shore” over the Black Sea.
