Satellite images confirm SBU’s Spiderweb op destroyed A-50 at Russia’s Ivanovo airbase

Satellite images published by OSINT analyst Húrin and the GEOINT X account confirm the SBU’s Spiderweb drone operation on June 1 destroyed at least one A-50 radar aircraft at Russia’s Ivanovo airbase, with minimal damage at Dyagilevo.
The Ivanovo images show damage to the apron, with several A-50s affected and at least one destroyed.
In early 2024, Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov stated Russia had only eight operational A-50 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft.
At Dyagilevo, satellite imagery revealed no significant damage, leaving most aircraft intact.
Earlier images from the Belaya airbase in Irkutsk Oblast showed three destroyed Tu-95MS bombers, one damaged Tu-95MS, and one destroyed Tu-22M3.
The SBU’s Spiderweb operation targeted four airbases—Olenya, Belaya, Dyagilevo, and Ivanovo—hitting 41 aircraft, or 34% of Russia’s strategic missile carriers, according to an SBU source.
Planned for over 18 months, the operation used FPV drones smuggled into Russia and launched from mobile wooden cabins with remotely opened roofs.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the SBU confirmed all operatives returned safely to Ukraine.
