Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) conducted a third attack on the Crimean Bridge on June 3, 2025, using 1,100 kilograms of underwater explosives to severely damage its supports, rendering the bridge in an emergency state, the SBU reported.

At 4:44 a.m., SBU agents detonated the first explosive device, placed on underwater supports during a months-long operation, causing no civilian casualties.

The blast, equivalent to 1100 kilograms of TNT, heavily damaged the bridge’s underwater pillars at seabed level, leaving it critically compromised.

SBU head Lt. Gen. Vasyl Maliuk personally oversaw and coordinated the operation.

"God loves the Trinity, and the SBU always follows through and never repeats itself. Previously, we hit the Crimean Bridge twice in 2022 and 2023. So today we continued this tradition underwater. There is no place for any illegal facilities of the Russian Federation on the territory of our country," Maliuk said.

The official called the bridge a legitimate target, as Russia uses it as a key logistical route for its military.

Previous attacks on the Crimean Bridge

Previous attacks include an October 2022 explosion that ignited fuel wagons and collapsed two road spans, and a July 2023 strike that destroyed one span and damaged another, reducing Russia’s military logistics via the bridge.

OSINT group Molfar reported Russia shifted to alternative routes through occupied parts of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

In March 2025, Ukrainian Navy Commander Oleksiy Neyizhpapa hinted at plans for a third strike.
