365 of 371 aerial threats shot down in Russia's overnight assault on Ukraine
Russian forces launched drones and missiles targeting Ukrainian regions overnight into Friday. Ukrainian defenders neutralized 365 of 371 airborne targets, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Russia attacked Ukraine with:
- 363 attack drones, including Shahed UAVs and decoy drones (over 200 were Shaheds), launched from various locations in Russia: Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
- Two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Russia’s Ryazan Oblast.
- Six Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea.
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
Preliminary data as of 9:30 a.m. indicates that air defenses shot down 217 targets—211 drones and all six Kalibr missiles. An additional 148 drones were reported as lost to radar.
The primary target of the Russian strike was Starokostiantyniv in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. Direct hits were recorded at three locations, with debris falling at eight other sites.
