Ukraine hits Russian gas line supplying military complex

On Thursday evening, an explosion and subsequent fire destroyed a section of a major gas pipeline in the Russian town of Langepas, located in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, according to a source in Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.
The source stated that the pipeline supplies enterprises of Russia’s military-industrial complex in Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, and Sverdlovsk oblasts.
According to the source, the affected pipeline has an annual capacity of 2.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Given the approximately 20-kilometer distance between gas compressor stations, the two damaged pipeline sections contained roughly 4,112,000 cubic meters of gas.
The immediate damage from the explosion is estimated at no less than $1.3 million.
The Defense Intelligence source explained that restoration and testing of the pipeline will take about one month, as the damaged sections are located in swampy terrain, complicating repair efforts and reducing gas supply by approximately 25 million cubic meters during this period.
This will lead to indirect financial losses of nearly $76 million, the military intelligence added.
Overnight into July 5,, an explosion and fire near Vladivostok destroyed sections of the Vladivostok gas pipeline, as well as a water pipeline supplying drinking water to Russian military personnel.
