Russian overnight attack kills 2, Ukrainian air defenses downs 11 Shahed drones

Overnight, Russian troops launched an attack on Ukraine using 35 Shahed strike drones and decoy drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

The Russian military launched the drones from two directions: Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The Air Force identified 29 of the drones as Shaheds.

As of 8:30 AM, preliminary data indicates that air defenses shot down 11 targets in Ukraine’s northern and eastern regions. Additionally, six decoy drones were either lost to radar or suppressed by electronic warfare (EW).

The primary focus of the attack was frontline areas in eastern Ukraine, with 18 drones striking five locations and debris falling in two others.

Notably, Russian forces hit an electric locomotive in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, killing the driver and injuring two others.

Additionally, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia Oblast with guided aerial bombs. According to Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration head Ivan Fedorov, a 64-year-old man was killed in the Stepnohirsk territorial community.

The strikes targeted residential areas, causing fires in several multi-story buildings.
