In the early hours of Monday, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) attacked the Saky military airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea with drones, destroying one aircraft and damaging four others, according to the SBU press service.

The Saky airfield is a key Russian airbase for operations in the Black Sea region.

During the attack, Ukrainian drones hit an aviation munitions depot. One Su-30SM fighter jet was completely destroyed, another Su-30SM was damaged, and three Su-24 aircraft were also struck.

The SBU noted that a single Su-30SM is valued at approximately $35–50 million, indicating significant losses for Russia.

The Su-30SM is a fourth-generation, two-seat, supersonic multirole fighter designed for air superiority, strikes on ground and naval targets, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare.

The Su-24 is a Soviet-era frontline bomber capable of low-altitude flights to penetrate enemy rear areas, used for precision strikes on ground and naval targets.
