Ukraine’s intelligence drones target Russia’s only plant that produces helium for missiles
On Monday, drones operated by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense struck the Orenburg Helium Plant in Orenburg, Russia, the only facility in Russia producing helium for missiles, intelligence sources told hromadske.
The sources noted that helium is a critical component not only for missiles but also for the space and aviation industries. The Orenburg Helium Plant is Russia’s only such facility and one of the largest in Europe.
The plant is directly involved in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and is a key component of Russia’s military-industrial complex.
As a result of the drone attack, local authorities closed a section of the M-5 “Ural” federal highway near the settlements of Perevolotsky and Kholodnye Kliuchi, where the targeted plant is located.
