Russian troops attacked an industrial zone on the outskirts of Sumy with strike drones early on Friday, where a security guard was killed, Sumy Oblast Military Administration head Oleg Hryhorov reported.

“The two explosions everyone in the city heard today were enemy drones hitting a non-residential building,” Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar said.

According to the regional administration, a fire broke out at the attack site, damaging vehicles and non-residential buildings.

Initially, authorities said that due to the threat of follow-up strikes, State Emergency Service specialists could not begin search-and-rescue operations or clean-up efforts.

Soon after, however, all emergency services began working at the scene. Under the rubble, they found the body of the deceased security guard. Hryhorov said that after the first drone strike, the man was still in contact, but communication was lost after a second Russian hit.

In addition, early in the morning, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the Bytytskyi starostat in the Sumy territorial community. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.

The previous evening, Russians attacked a car in the Sumy district with a strike drone. A 19-year-old passenger was injured and hospitalized.
