Russia launches 84 drones at Ukraine, air defenses neutralize 59
Russian forces launched 84 strike drones and anti-aircraft guided missiles at Ukrainian regions overnight into Monday, with Ukrainian defenses neutralizing 59 aerial targets, the Air Force Command of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported.
The aggressor state fired anti-aircraft missiles from S-300 systems in Russia's Kursk and Belgorod oblasts. About 50 Shaheds and other drones, including Gerberas, flew from Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups of the defense forces.
Preliminary data as of 9 a.m. show air defense shot down or suppressed 59 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
Missile and 25 strike drone impacts were recorded at 13 locations.
Meanwhile, the enemy continues drone attacks from the northeast. Air raid alerts are ongoing in parts of Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts.
Aftermath of the attack
In Sumy Oblast, Russian forces struck a field with missiles where agricultural equipment was operating, injuring harvest workers. Eleven were hospitalized.
The State Emergency Service said in Chernihiv Oblast, Russian troops deliberately targeted rescuers extinguishing a fire at a critical infrastructure facility in the Nizhyn district that ignited from a drone strike.
Four firefighters were injured and hospitalized.
In Kharkiv Oblast, a Russian drone attack set a non-residential building ablaze in the village of Velykyi Burluk, and a transport infrastructure facility burned in Blyzniuky territorial community. Rescuers extinguished all fires with no casualties.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration head Serhiy Lysak said a strike in the Yuryivka territorial community caused a fire and damaged a transport enterprise.
The aggressor also hit Apostolove in the Kryvyi Rih district, sparking a blaze.
Additionally, Russians attacked the region with FPV drones and guided aerial bombs. In the Nikopol district, a 63-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized.
