Azov clears Pankivka village in Donbas from Russian forces

Ukrainian Defense Forces, including the National Guard’s Azov Corps, cleared the village of Pankivka and nearby areas in Donetsk Oblast from Russian troops, the 1st Azov Corps reported on Sept. 15.
Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces operating in the 1st Corps of the National Guard “Azov” continue to liberate territories on the Dobropillia sector.
Meanwhile, Russia is reinforcing its troop presence. To bolster its offensive potential, Russian military command redeployed additional reserves to the Azov Corps’ area of responsibility, including four infantry brigades and one marine regiment.
The Defense Forces are making every effort to halt the enemy’s advance and prevent a breakthrough of defenses.
In August, the 1st Azov Corps took up defensive positions in the Pokrovsk sector after Russian forces intensified their offensive there.
Ukrainian forces subsequently “cut off” a salient of Russian forces near Dobropillia. Over the past month, they cleared the Donetsk Oblast settlements of Hruzke, Rubizhne, Novovodiane, Petrivka, Vesele, and Zolotyi Kolodiaz.
However, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Dnipro Operational-Strategic Troop Grouping, told hromadske in late August that Russians still remain in the lower part of the salient.
