Ukraine repatriates bodies of 1,000 fallen soldiers

As part of repatriation efforts, Ukraine has brought back 1,000 bodies that, according to Russia, belong to Ukrainian servicemembers, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported.
In the near future, investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identification of the repatriated bodies.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that the fallen defended the country in the Kursk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia sectors.
The repatriation was carried out by the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense sector structures. The International Committee of the Red Cross also assisted.
Personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine transported the repatriated bodies to designated state institutions, organized their handover to law enforcement, and facilitated forensic examinations.
The previous exchange of bodies took place a month ago on August 19, when Ukraine repatriated 1,000 bodies of deceased citizens from Russia.
